Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

Stored in your air conditioner’s coils, refrigerants are liquids that cool and dehumidify your air. Without refrigerants, air conditioning would not be possible. For years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, it will be illegal to produce R-22 because of its negative effects on the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo decrease environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now engineered to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and contains no chlorine, so it’s ozone-friendly. You can feel good about using this refrigerant in Grove City because it’ll help make your AC work efficiently, reliably and quietly, and offer the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was built before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You probably should investigate upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is ultimately unavailable. The old refrigerant will become scarce in the next few years, costing you more to run your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Air Quality Solutions work with R-410A, so you know we have an AC or heat pump you can better rely on. Additionally, steer clear of”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
